Virginia Tech heads to Clemson, Iowa

BLACKSBURG – After hosting two home meets to start the season, the Virginia Tech track and field teams will split up this weekend and compete at the Bob Pollock Invitational and Iowa Black and Gold Premier on Friday and Saturday.
 
The throws group consisting of Isaiah Rogers and Tyson Jones will head to Iowa City, Iowa as Iowa plays host to the Iowa Back and Gold Premier. Field events will begin at 4 p.m. ET on Friday and will begin again at noon on Saturday.
 
Select sprinters and the pole vault and jump/multi-event groups will head to Clemson, South Carolina, for the Bob Pollack Invitational at the Clemson Indoor Track and Field Complex. The meet will begin 3 p.m. on Friday and will pick back up at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.
 
Admission is free for both meets
 
The last time out, junior Eszter Bajnok reset her school record in the long jump, while senior Deakin Volz (pole vault), senior Rachel Pocratsky (1,000), junior Matthew Harding (1,000), junior Michael Davenport (300 meters), sophomore Kennedy Dennis (60 meters) and sophomore Rachel Baxter (pole vault) all tabbed first-place finishes.
 
Baxter was named ACC Women's Field Performer of the Week, as announced by the league on Wednesday.
