HOKIES OPEN VIRGINA DUALS WITH CHATTANOOGA
- No. 13 Virginia Tech's 13th appearance at the Virginia Duals begins an 11 a.m. match against Chattanooga on Friday, Jan. 11, at the Hampton Coliseum.
- The winner of the dual will face the victor of Old Dominion vs. Kent State taking place at the same time.
- The 9 a.m. matches on the other side of the bracket features No. 16 Arizona State vs. Oklahoma and Virginia vs. No. 20 Lock Haven.

SHORT TIME – THE FIELD
- The all-time series between the Hokies and Mocs is knotted up at 8-8.
- Virginia Tech topped the Mocs in Chattanooga last season, 28-7, on Nov. 17, 2017.
- The Mocs are assisted by Tech great Nick Brascetta, who was a three-time All-American and a three-time ACC champion for the Hokies from 2012-16.
- Old Dominion is currently receiving votes in the NWCA Coaches Poll and enters the weekend with a 3-2 record.
- The Monarchs currently have four wrestlers ranked by Intermat – 19th-ranked Michael McGee at 125 pounds, 13th-ranked Sa'Derian Pery at 141, No. 6 Larry Early at 157 and 20th-ranked Seldon Weight at 174.
- The Hokies trail the all-time series against Old Dominion, 15-22, but are 6-4 all-time against Kent State, the Monarchs first round opponent at the Duals.
- The latest meeting between Tech and the Golden Flashes was a 41-3 win for the Hokies at the Virginia Duals on Jan. 13, 2017.
- Kent State's 184-pounder, Andrew McNally, currently ranks third in the country with 10 falls.
SHORT TIME – VIRGINIA TECH
- Virginia Tech has won three of the last five Virginia Duals national college division titles, with its last one coming in 2017.
- The Hokies are 19-22 all-time at the Virginia Duals.
- Tech currently has six wrestlers ranked by Intermat – No. 15 Korbin Myers at 133 pounds, No. 8 Mekhi Lewis at 165, No. 6 David McFadden at 174, No. 8 Zack Zavatsky at 184, No. 9 Tom Sleigh at 197 and No. 17 Billy Miller at 285.
- The biggest mover of the week was Sleigh who jumped from 15th to ninth at 197 after a third-place finish at the Southern Scuffle.
- Also at the Scuffle, McFadden placed third at 174 with a 5-1 record and Miller finished sixth at heavyweight where he went 4-3.
- Zavatsky enters this weekend with 94 career victories, three shy of tying Jared Haught for 13th on the program's all-time wins list.
- This weekend will see the return of freshman Mitch Moore to dual meet action after he missed the last month of competition while recovering from an injury.
- Moore in action last weekend at the David Lehman F&M Open in Lancaster, Pa., where he went 5-0 with four falls in 3:35.
