HighTechs

The Virginia Tech HighTechs are among the most active and visible groups on campus - dancing on the sidelines at home football and basketball games, making public appearances at community events, and competing at the UDA College National Championships in Orlando, FL each January. The HighTechs are comprised of one team, and are present at all home football games, occasional road football games, home men's and women’s basketball games and various Olympic sports contests. The team performs at numerous pep rallies and campus events throughout the year.

The HighTechs dance team consists of a group of people who enjoy dancing, generating school spirit, and entertaining fans at Virginia Tech Intercollegiate Athletic events. The audience is treated to unique choreography that includes fast transitions, jumps, leaps, and turns. Their timeout and halftime performances demonstrate a variety of styles, including jazz, pom, and hip hop.

Practices focus on choreography and learning and perfecting technique. Members of the HighTechs are also encouraged to choreograph routines for performances at games and pep rallies. The HighTechs practice between eight and twelve hours a week and are required to attend workouts with the strength and condition coach. Members who make the nationals team are required to attend additional practices depending on the time of year.
