Cam Davis

Director of Baseball Operations

Cam Davis enters his third season as the director of baseball operations at Virginia Tech, having been welcomed back to the Hokies’ support staff in October 2022. Prior to his promotion, he served four seasons as a standout on the program’s student managerial staff under the tutelage of John Szefc and Corey Haines, his predecessor and mentor.

Davis, who graduated from Virginia Tech in May 2022, manages all day-to-day responsibilities of the baseball program as well as all logistics pertaining to the use of Tech's baseball facilities. He also coordinates the team's home, away and recruiting operations.

A natural leader and professional, Davis rose through the ranks of Tech’s support staff during his undergraduate tenure with the program (2019-22), earning promotion to head student manager. Among his primary duties, he was responsible for directing the Hokies’ student employment staff, overseeing the setup and facilitation of all activities at English Field on practice and competition days.

Prior to the start of his junior year at Tech, Davis was promoted into the role of the assistant to the director of baseball operations. Under the leadership of Haines, Davis aided in the daily coordination with visiting coaches, student-athletes, umpires, administrators and staff, twice serving as the acting director of operations.

After graduating with his bachelor’s degree in political science with a concentration in United States history, Davis honored his acting director of operations role at the 2022 NCAA Blacksburg Regional and Blacksburg Super Regional. With diligence and care, he accommodated four visiting programs during their postseason stays, assuring smooth tournament operation with NCAA site representatives in front of a combined attendance of more than 16,000 fans.

Davis is the son of two Virginia Tech graduates and is originally from Cedar Bluff, Virginia. He currently resides in Blacksburg.

Coach Szefc on welcoming Cam Davis …
“We are really excited to welcome Cam back to our staff. He has been a big part of our building process while he was here as a student manager, especially with our championship program [in 2022]. Cam is very capable and equipped to handle this position. He is also a Virginia Tech graduate and we are happy to welcome him back. I am excited to work with him.”
