BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech volleyball fell to Duke in five sets (25-16, 19-25, 18-25, 25-23, 15-11) on Sunday afternoon at Cassell Coliseum.
The Hokies dropped the opening set before responding with back-to-back wins to take a 2-1 lead. Virginia Tech claimed the second set, 25-19, before taking the third, 25-18, behind a .214 hitting percentage. Duke responded in the fourth set, edging the Hokies 25-23, before securing the match with a 15-11 win in the fifth.
Reese Hazelton led Virginia Tech offensively with 15 kills and added 12 digs for her fourth double-double of the season. Destiny Walker also recorded a double-double, finishing with 12 kills and a team-high 15 digs for her third of the season. Adeline Hundl added 11 kills while Isabella Mishler contributed eight kills and four block assists.
Camilla Brandalise paced the Hokies with 30 assists and added nine digs, while Ivy Cooper finished with 13 digs. Virginia Tech recorded 11.0 total team blocks, led by Layla Moore with four block assists and two solo blocks.The Hokies move to 4-11 overall and 1-5 in ACC play.
