Hokie ClubBLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech defensive tackle Kemari Copeland has been named to both the 2026 Bronko Nagurski Trophy Watch List and the Outland Trophy Watch List, recognizing him among the nation's premier defensive players entering the upcoming season.
The Bronko Nagurski Trophy, presented annually by the Charlotte Touchdown Club and selected by the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA), honors the nation's most outstanding defensive player. The Outland Trophy, presented by the FWAA, is awarded annually to the nation's best interior lineman on either side of the ball.
A preseason All-ACC selection, Copeland enters the 2026 season as one of the anchors of Virginia Tech's defensive front. He started all 12 games for the Hokies in 2025, recording 48 tackles, including 11 solo stops, and 7.5 tackles for loss. Copeland led the team with 4.5 sacks while adding an interception and a quarterback hurry, emerging as one of the ACC's most disruptive interior defenders.
