BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech women's basketball head coach Megan Duffy announces the addition of Ke’Sha Blanton to her staff as an assistant coach. With the Hokies, Blanton will play a key role in recruiting, scouting and on-court player development.

“We are thrilled to welcome Ke’Sha Blanton to Blacksburg,” said Duffy. “She is an incredibly hard-worker with a passion to impact student-athletes both on and off the court. She will immediately expand our recruiting footprint and elevate our player development.”

Blanton joins the Hokies’ staff with 15 years of Division I coaching experience, including a successful tenure under Coach Duffy at Miami (Ohio). Her career is defined by a relentless commitment to player development, evidenced by the 30 All-Conference selections she has mentored.

Most recently, Blanton served as an assistant coach at Tulane for the 2025-26 season. During her time with the Wave, she was the recruiting coordinator and responsible for player development, program operations and support, and acted as the NIL liaison for the program.

Prior to her stint at Tulane, Blanton made history in her one season as the head coach at Air Force Prep Academy, leading the Huskies to the program’s first-ever undefeated campaign in 2024-25. In her role with the Huskies, she was responsible for the retention and development of players recruited by the Air Force Academy Division I program, with a specific emphasis on the offensive and defensive principles run by the Falcons.

Ahead of her arrival in Colorado Springs, she spent two seasons as an assistant coach at Eastern Michigan (2022-24) and later took over as interim head coach for part of the 2023-24 campaign.

Blanton was the associate head coach at Oakland from 2019-2021 before serving as acting head coach for the 2021-22 season. As acting head coach, Blanton led Oakland to a landmark season, highlighted by the program’s first trip to the Horizon League Tournament semifinals and an 11-win conference slate, a mark that was one win shy of the program record.

Blanton’s resume includes impactful tenures as an assistant coach at Miami (Ohio) (2017-19) and Detroit Mercy (2012-17) where she guided teams to three postseason appearances and mentored 21 All-Conference performers, including 2013 Preseason Horizon League Player of the Year Rosie Reynolds.

Blanton also spent two seasons as a graduate assistant coach at Florida State University where her responsibilities included assisting coaches in practice, recruiting, player development, scouting, community relations and extensive film breakdown of opponents’ players, plays, and defenses. With the Seminoles, she was part of a staff that amassed 38 wins during her two-year tenure, including a 24-8 mark in 2010-11 in which Florida State earned a No. 3 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Blanton also worked with all-conference performers Cierra Bravard and WNBA player Natasha Howard, who led the Atlantic Coast Conference in double-doubles that season.

A native of Toledo, Ohio, Blanton graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications with a concentration in broadcast journalism from the University of Toledo in 2009. She later earned a Master of Science degree in Sports Administration from Florida State University in 2012.
