Hokies drop match to No. 21 Cardinal

Sophomore Blake Hilsen picked up a singles win

STANFORD, Calif. – Tech fell 4-1 to the Stanford Cardinal on a late Friday night in California. 

The Hokies held Courts 2 and 3 to a close match, with Ilyas Fahim and Patrik Jurina ultimately falling 7-5 to give the Cardinal the doubles point. Drew Fishback and Frank Thompson led No. 62 Krupkin/Rivera 6-5 at the time of the clinching point. 

Sophomore Blake Hilsen found a win on Court 6 over Mark Krupkin, 6-3, 7-5, to give Tech its sole point of the match. 

Three Hokies fell in straight sets to the Cardinal for the match. Fahim led No. 58 Hudson Rivera 4-6, 6-4, 3-1, at the time the match ended.
