BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Virginia Tech track and field team will continue its indoor postseason campaign at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships in Fayetteville, Ark., March 13-14. The Hokies qualified six athletes across five events following strong performances at the ACC Indoor Championships.
On the women’s side, Chiara Sistermann will represent Virginia Tech in the pole vault. Her 2026 season has been highlighted by a second-place finish at the ACC Indoor Championships, where she earned First Team All-ACC honors in the event for the third consecutive year. Sistermann cleared 4.45 meters to secure silver and claim her fifth career All-ACC accolade. She enters the national meet ranked 13th on the NCAA indoor qualifying list.
For the men, George Couttie will compete in the mile, 3,000 meters and as part of the Distance Medley Relay (DMR). Couttie ranks second nationally in the mile after breaking his own program record with a time of 3:52.02 this season. He also holds the school record in the 3,000 meters, clocking 7:36.74 to rank fifth on the qualifying list, and is a 2025 Second-Team All-American in the 3,000 meters.
Couttie also anchors the DMR squad that posted the No. 3 all-time collegiate performance earlier this year. The quartet of Dylan DeCambre (1,200m – 2:49.52), Calvin Meyer (400m – 46.92), Christian Jackson (800m – 1:45.41) and George Couttie (1,600m – 3:53.26) traveled to Boston for the Saucony Battle for Boston on Feb. 22, finishing second to Oregon (9:14.88) with a program-record time of 9:15.05. The mark shattered the previous school record of 9:19.88, and the group enters the NCAA Championships ranked third in the nation.
Rounding out Tech’s qualifiers is Nate Paris. The junior returns to the national stage in the heptathlon after earning Second Team All-America honors at last year’s NCAA Indoor Championships. He followed that performance with a breakthrough showing at the ACC Indoor Championships, where he captured silver with a career-best 5,821 points to earn First Team All-ACC honors for the first time in his career.
Paris totaled 3,264 points on Day One to sit in first place, opening with a personal-best 6.81 in the 60 meters to win the event and score 951 points.
