TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Virginia Tech battled but fell 5-1 to No. 50 Florida State.
The Hokies opened the match in strong fashion, securing the doubles point. Blake Hilsen and Eyal Shumilov earned a 6-2 win over No. 15 Erik Schiessl and Luis Felipe Miguel, while Frank Thompson and Drew Fishback followed with a 7-5 victory to clinch the point.
Virginia Tech continued to compete throughout singles play despite the final score. Florida State moved ahead 3-1, but the Hokies showed resilience across the remaining courts.
Julian Lozano pushed his opponent in a tight match before falling 5-7, 4-6. Ilyas Fahim battled but came up short, 2-6, 6-7 (5-7), against No. 121 Luis Felipe Miguel, and Drew Fishback held a 7-6 (7-4), 6-5 lead over No. 124 Azariah Rusher when play was stopped.
