LA QUINTA, Calif. – The Virginia Tech women's golf team finished in red figures in its last two rounds to surge up the leaderboard and take fourth at the Yale Invitational, which concluded Tuesday at PGA West's Norman Course (par 72, 6,219 yards).

Behind a pair of top-20 showings by Valentine Delon and Morgan Ketchum, the Hokies carded an even-par 864 (295-283-286) to beat four teams in the field that are currently inside the top 32 of the national rankings: Vanderbilt (No. 12), Oklahoma State (No. 27), Kansas State (No. 30) and Cal (No. 32).

Delon tied for 13th at 2-under 214 (71-68-75), while Ketchum tied for 19th at even-par 216 (74-70-72). Alina Ho, who entered Tech's lineup for the first time this season, carded a career-best, 4-under 68 in the final round to propel the Hokies. She tied for 41st at 7-over 223.

North Carolina, ranked No. 15 in the country, won the team title at 31-under 833 (280-274-279). Kansas, ranked No. 23 nationally, was second at 20-under 844 (280-284-280). Princeton took third at 3-under 861 (287-283-291), three strokes clear of the Hokies.

Kansas' Lauren Clark fired a 12-under 204 (69-69-66) to claim medalist honors by one shot over North Carolina's Ing Iadpluem.

Tech is next in action at the Ironwood Invitational hosted by East Carolina, March 31-April 1, at Ironwood Golf and Country Club in Greenville, N.C.
