BLACKSBURG – On Tuesday afternoon, head coach Marci Byers announced the 2025 competition schedule.
The fall volleyball slate consists of 31 contests – 16 road and 15 home matches – featuring opponents from 10 conferences (MEAC, CAA, OVC, CUSA, NEC, SBC, Horizon League, SoCon, Big South and ACC). Plenty of ACC action is on the books with 20 conference games scheduled, complemented by 11 non-conference matches.
The squad will face 28 total opponents, but will see action against Notre Dame, Syracuse, and Virginia twice in the schedule. Virginia and Virginia Tech will see back-to-back action on October 15 and 19 for the 2025 installment of the Commonwealth Clash.
Virginia Tech will open the 2025 campaign on the road in Wilmington, N.C. for the UNCW Tournament and continue on to Delaware for the Blue Hen Invitational the second week of the season. The squad opens home action on September 11-13 with the Hokie Invitational and will remain at home for the Virginia Tech Classic on September 18-19. After the four tournament weekends, the Hokies will open conference action.
ACC play for the Hokies begins at home in Cassell Coliseum as the squad hosts Cal on September 27 and concludes on the road at Syracuse on November 28.
Returning for her sixth season at the helm of the program is head coach Marci Byers. Alongside Byers are returning assistant coaches Caleb Adams and William Tatge, and new staff members assistant coach/recruiting coordinator Victoria Brisack and director of operations Kelsey DeShambo.
The 2025 squad is comprised of two graduate students, three seniors, three juniors, five sophomores and five freshmen. Among the eight returning letterwinners for the Hokies are Sierra Cates, Sarah Malinowski, Elizabeth Aylward, Jordan Hallman, Aisha Keric, Ece Yildiz, Erica Dellesky and Isabella Mishler. Notable letterwinners from the 2024 season are Jordan Hallman, who accumulated 114 total blocks and 80 kills, and Sarah Malinowski, who collected 147 kills and 60 total blocks. New to the squad in the 2025 season are Brianna Holladay, Georgia Trexler, Erica Fava, Camilla Brandalise, Adeline Hundl, Ainsley Ranstead, Paloma Zubiri, Ivy Cooper, Reese Hazelton and Payton Woods.
