Volleyball adds seven to 2025 roster

Byers adds four true freshmen and three transfers to the Hokie squad.

BLACKSBURG - Head volleyball coach Marci Byers has annouced the addition of seven individuals to the 2025 roster.

ADDIE

ADELINE HUNDL

Adeline Hundl is an outside hitter from El Campo, Texas where she attended El Campo High School.

At El Campo, Hundl was a three-year varsity volleyball athlete.  She accumulated 1,500+ kills during her four years with the program.  In 2021, Hundl was tabbed as the District 24-4A Newcomer of the Year and in 2022 was selected as the District 24-4A Offensive MVP.  Her 2023 season resulted in a selection to the District 24-4A First Team and she concluded her high school career as the 2024 District 24-4A Overall MVP. She is a four-time Academic All-District honoree and was tabbed to the 2024 THSCA First Team Academic All-State.

Hundl played club volleyball for Houston Skyline where her club team qualified for nationals three times and placed second overall in the Liberty Division in 2023.

Hundl plans on majoring in food science while at Virginia Tech.  She is the daughter of Ann and Philip Hundl, and has three siblings, Philip, Hendrick and Olivia.  Her father, Philip, played football at Texas A&M and both brothers, Philip (Air Force Academy) and Hendrick (North Texas), compete collegiately in track & field.

Fun Facts: Loves to cook and travel, has watched "Gossip Girl" four times through.

PALOMA ZUBIRI

Adeline Hundl is an outside hitter from Pergamino, Buenos Aires, Argentina where she attendedColegio San José Hermanos Maristas.

In Argentina, Zubiri was chosen for the ideal team after becoming one of the top outside hitters in the province of Santa Fe.

She is the daughter of Silvana Maria Zampierin and Sebastian Luis Zubiri, and has two siblings, Martin and Manuel.  Both brothers, Martin (Trinity Western) and Manuel (Thomas More), compete collegiately in rugby.

Fun Facts: Loves sports, music and drinking mate.

Cooper_Ivy

IVY COOPER

Ivy Cooper is a libero and defensive specialist from Port Saint Lucie, Fla. where she attended Fort Pierce Central High School.

At Fort Pierce Central High School, Cooper had a standout season in 2024, reaching the all-time digs record for the program as well as earning AVCA Honorable All-Mention, AVCA All-Region Team and AVCA Best & Brightest First Team honors.  WIthin her district, Cooper picked up FACA Class 7A Player of the year and FACA Overall MVP selections to seal her high school career.

Cooper plans on majoring in food criminology while at Virginia Tech.  She is the daughter of Tiffany and Andre Cooper, and has four siblings, Danya, Leroy, Ariana and Olivia.  

Fun Facts: Played in the AAU Junior Olympics for beach volleyball in California and is the first in her family to go away for college.

Holladay_Brianna

BRIANNA HOLLADAY

Brianna Holladay is a middle blocker and right side hitter from Leesburg, Va. where she attended Riverside High School.

At Riverside, Holladay was a two time First Team All-District, two-time First Team All-Region and a two-time First Team All-State selection.  She was selected at the VHSAA 2024 State Player of the Year and the 2024 County Player of the Year, while being selected as a 2023 Second Team All-Metropolitan.

Academically, Holladay earned AP Scholar with Distinction honors, graduated Magna Cum Laude and earned the Academic Excellence award each year of high school.

Holladay plans on majoring in engineering while at Virginia Tech.  She is the daughter of Kim and Seth Holladay, and has two siblings, Austin and Landen. 

REESE

REESE HAZELTON

Reese Hazelton is an outside hitter from Philipsburg, Pa. where she attended Philipsburg Osceola High School.

Prior to Virginia Tech, Hazelton spent time at Indiana, where she recorded her first collegiate solo block in her debut against Wichita State and saw action in five matches during her freshman season.

At Philipsburg Osceola High School, Hazelton was a four-time All-State and All-Conference selection where she was also named the 2023 Pennsylvania Gatorade Player of the Year.  In 2022, she led the state of Pennsylvania in kills with 674 and was second in kills during 2023 with 685.  Hazelton led her team to the PIAA 2A State Title in 2023 with 46 kills and 23 digs in the state championship match.  She accumulated 2,483 kills, 1,433 digs, 245 aces and 165 total blocks during her four-year career and finished as the school record holder in kills and digs.

Hazelton plans on majoring in sports & media analytics while at Virginia Tech.  She is the daughter of Kelly and Justin Hazelton, and has one sibling, Hank.  Her father, Justin, played minor league baseball in Detroit, Texas and Cleveland after being drafted out of high school in the 10th round.

Fun Facts: Makes award winning ceramics and has a golden retriever named Toby.

Ranstead

AINSLEY RANSTEAD

Ainsley Ranstead is an outside hitter from Mahomet, Ill. where she attended Mahomet-Seymour High School.

Prior to Virginia Tech, Ranstead competed collegiately for Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE).  In her four years at SIUE, Ranstead accumulated 617 kills, 58 service aces, 353 digs, 156 total blocks and 761 total points as a Cougar.  In the 2024 season, she reached single match career-highs of 16 kills versus Missouri State and 20 digs versus Chattanooga while dropping five aces on Eastern Illinois.

Ranstead plans on majoring in finance with a minor in mathematical studies while at Virginia Tech.  She is the daughter of Stacy Schweighart and Paul Ranstead, her step-father is David Schweighart, and she has three siblings, Maclaren, Kale and Riley.

Brandalise_Camilla

CAMILLA BRANDALISE

Camilla Brandalise is a setter from São Paulo, Brazil where she attended Sesi High School.

Prior to Virginia Tech, Brandalise was a standout setter for Florida Southwestern where she helped the program to two JUCCO National Championships.  She is a five-time FCSAA Setter of the Week and owns a single game career-high of 60 assists.  Brandalise accumulated 847 assists, 156 digs, 39 total blocks, 51 services aces and 33 kills in her two seasons as a Pirate.

Hundl plans on majoring in multimedia journalism while at Virginia Tech.  She is the daughter of Theresinha Gomes and Mario Brandalise, and has three siblings, Mauricio, Mario and Marcella.
