Peck becomes all-time program home run and RBI leader in win over Charlotte

She is now the all-time home run leader (52) and RBI leader (171) after hitting three home runs in win

BLACKSBURG – Bre Peck’s historic night in Blacksburg propelled the No. 11/12 Hokies to a 12-3 win over Charlotte on Tuesday night at Tech Softball Park.

With her three solo home runs, Peck became the all-time Virginia Tech leader in home runs (52) and RBIs (171). The previous record of 50 home runs was held by Megan Evans (2002-05) and the previous record of 170 total RBIs was held by Kelsey Bennett (2019-23).

Peck tied the single-game record for the most home runs in a game with three. She also tied the single-game record with four runs in a game as well.

With the win, the Hokies extended their winning streak to 14 games.

How It Happened: Virginia Tech 12, Charlotte 3
Bre Peck began her historic night with a solo home run to center field in the bottom of the second inning. With Jordan Lynch on first, Trinity Martin singled to right field to make it a 2-0 Hokies’ lead.

Charlotte got on the board in the top of the fourth, but Peck responded with her second home run of the night. Her solo home run to left field crowned her as the program’s all-time home run leader with her then-51st home run of her career.

 

With runners on first and second, Cori McMillan hit her ACC-leading 17th home run of the season to extend the Tech lead to 6-1.

The 49s added two runs in the top of the fifth before Emma Lemley came in for relief. Emma Mazzarone struck out four in her 4.2 innings pitched.

With a 6-3 lead, an RBI double to center from Jordan Lynch gave the Hokies a 7-3 advantage. McMillan followed it up in the inning with a two-RBI double, extending the Tech lead to 9-3.

In the bottom of the sixth, Peck became the program’s all-time RBI leader with her third solo home run of the game. Peck became the third player in program history to hit three home runs in a single game as she earned her 171st career RBI.

After Lynch singled, Zoe Yaeger hit the game-winning home run as Tech defeated Charlotte 12-3 in six innings.
