RALEIGH, N.C. – No. 11/13 Virginia Tech extended its win streak to 11 games with a 10-2 five-inning victory at NC State on Friday night at Dail Softball Stadium.

Cori McMillan hit her ACC-leading 16th home run of the season in the win.

How It Happened: Virginia Tech 10, NC State 2 (5 inn.)
After back-to-back singles by Cori McMillan and Michelle Chatfield, Rachel Castine blasted an RBI-double to right field to make it 1-0. With the bases loaded, Zoe Yaeger delivered a bases-clearing double to extend the lead to 4-0.

A Wolfpack solo home run cut the deficit in the bottom of the first, but the Hokies extended their lead in the top of the fourth. After an RBI single from McMillan scored Annika Rohs, Chatfield recorded a sacrifice fly to make it 6-1.

An error by Rachel Castine allowed a runner to score in the bottom of the fourth, but she recovered and threw home to Zoe Yaeger to get the third out of the inning.

With runners on second and third, a Wolfpack wild pitch brought home another run. After a hit by pitch put Nora Abromavage on first base, Cori McMillan broke the game open with her three-run home run to left field to make it a 10-2 game in the fifth inning.

Emma Lemley finished up the game by forcing two Wolfpack groundouts and a strikeout to secure the five-inning victory.
