BLACKSBURG – No. 11/13 Virginia Tech shut out No. 24/RV Liberty for the second time this season as the Hokies recorded a 6-0 win against the Flames on Wednesday night at Tech Softball Park.

Jordan Lynch and Cori McMillan both hit home runs in the victory. Emma Lemley pitched a seven-inning shutout and struck out nine batters while only allowing three hits.

How It Happened: Virginia Tech 6, Liberty 0
The Hokies wasted no time getting on the board as Cori McMillan hit a lead-off home run to give Tech the 1-0 lead. With her walk-off home run against No. 16 Stanford on Sunday, McMillan became the first player in program history to hit a walk-off home run in a game and hit a home run as the lead-off batter in the next game.

Later in the first inning, Bre Peck drilled a single to right center to score Rachel Castine to make it a 2-0 contest.

In the bottom of the third, a Kylie Aldridge single to center and a walk by Bre Peck set up runners on first and second. On the second pitch of her at-bat, Jordan Lynch blasted a three-run home run to right field, her fifth home run of the season, to give Tech a 5-0 lead.

The Hokies added one more run in the bottom of the fifth from an RBI single to center from Lynch.

Emma Lemley put on a masterclass against the Flames as she tallied nine shutouts and only allowed three hits in her complete-game shutout.
