BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech softball has been on a roll in March, winning 11 of 12 contests and currently boasting a six-game win streak. The Hokies are climbing up the rankings, with their last move being two slots up to the 12th highest-ranked program, according to ESPN. After picking up two ranked conference wins in their opening ACC series against in-state rival Virginia, the Hokies welcome another ranked program to Blacksburg this weekend. Here are five reasons to make your way to Tech Softball Park when the Cardinal come to town:
- Swing into Spring Weekend – Celebrate the official start of spring with the Hokies! Make your way to Tech Softball Park for a free three-game series with the opening matchup on Friday evening at 6 p.m. ET. Enjoy the final two contests on Saturday at 4 p.m. and Sunday at noon. Not to mention, the weather will be in the 70s, so you can soak up the sun in an entertaining fashion.
- Island Night – Take a trip to the island for a Moana-inspired theme with free flower crowns and leis at the promotions booth while supplies last. In-Venue Host Bailey Angle will keep the island-themed fun going with interactive games, contests and promotions. Those are some awesome Friday night plans…You’re Welcome (in our Maui singing voice)!
- Alumni Weekend – Join us in welcoming back former Hokies on Saturday afternoon, including All-American Keely Rochard Sudberry who will throw out the first pitch. Fans are encouraged to arrive by 3:45 PM for the pregame festivities on Saturday.
- Art at the Park – Bring the family out and flex your creative muscles on Sunday! Come out for multiple art activities such as face painting, tie dye station and poster-making! Bring your own item or pick up a free white shirt to tie dye at the game, and design an 11x17” poster with a wide variety of markers, crayons and crafts.
- Ranked Matchup – No. 12 Virginia Tech and No. 16 Stanford will face off for the first time in program history. After conference realignment in 2024, which saw Stanford join the ACC, it adds another wrinkle to the series, serving as the inaugural matchup as conference foes. The Hokies have positive game notes on their side, as they’ve notched five ranked wins this season and hold a 4-1 record at home. Help cheer on softball as it looks to expand its 5-1 conference record this weekend.
