SALEM, Va. – No. 15/17 Virginia Tech defeated Penn State 6-3 on Day Two of the Hokie Invite on Saturday night.

The Hokies improve to 15-4 on the season. Michelle Chatfield and Jordan Lynch hit one home run apiece in the win.

How It Happened: Virginia Tech 6, Penn State 3
The Hokies wasted no time as Michelle Chatfield capitalized on two walks in the top of the first inning with a three-run blast to center field.

Two Nittany Lion home runs tied the game up at three, but the Hokies responded fast. With the game all tied up, Jordan Lynch launched a solo shot to right field to regain the Hokie lead – her third home run of the day – to give the Hokies a 4-3 lead.

Tech added two more runs in the bottom of the fifth to extend the lead to 6-3.

Emma Lemley was a star in the circle – allowing just four hits and striking out 12 batters. It marks her third double-digit strikeout performance of the season.
