How It Happened: Virginia Tech 12, Louisville 5
The Hokies got on the board immediately with a leadoff home run from Cori McMillan. Immediately after, Michelle Chatfield hit a solo home run to left field to give Tech an early 2-0 lead.

After a quick top of the second for Tech, Chatfield went long for the second time on the day and the fourth time on the weekend with her solo shot to center field to extend the Hokie lead to 3-0.

With Zoe Yaeger on first after a walk, Jordan Lynch joined the home run party as she blasted a two-run shot to right field. Kylie Aldridge made it back-to-back home runs as she followed Lynch with a solo shot directly to center field.

Through three innings, Tech had five home runs and held a 6-0 lead.

Louisville scored two runs in the bottom of the third to cut the deficit, but the Hokies continued to pour on the runs. A string of singles led to the bases being loaded and RBIs from Jayden Jones and Chatfield extended the lead to 8-2.

Emma Mazzarone finished the day with seven strikeouts and allowed just three hits through four innings pitched before Emma Lemley came in for relief.

In the top of the seventh, hits by Bre Peck, Zoe Yaeger and Lynch tallied four more runs for the Hokies to make it 12-5.
