CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA - Carys Baker's first triple of the game at the 6-minute mark of the first quarter gave the Hokies a lead they would not relinquish as the Hokies earned an 87-62 victory at rival Virginia Sunday afternoon.
It was a historic performance, as the 87 points are the most that the Hokies have ever scored in the series and the 26 assists mark the most by the program in an ACC contest. Additionally, Baker went 5-5 from beyond the arc, tying the program record for most consecutive made treys in a game (Cayla King Nov. 7, 2022).
Baker who has now scored in double figures in six straight contests tied for the team-high with 17 Sunday with Matilda Ekh. Carleigh Wenzel (16) and Lani White (15) were also in double figures for the Hokies.
The Hokies shot better than 58% Sunday and also won the rebounding and turnover battles.
