LYNCHBURG, Va. – Emma Lemley threw her third no-hitter of the season as No. 15/17 Virginia Tech (13-3) defeated No. 24/RV Liberty (12-4) 9-0 in five innings.
Lemley was unstoppable in the circle with five strikeouts and just one walk through five innings pitched. Including her back-to-back perfect games earlier in the season, it marks her third no-hitter of the 2025 season.
Lemley is the first pitcher to no-hit Liberty since NiJaree Canady tossed her first career no-hitter for Stanford against the Lady Flames on Feb. 12, 2023.
It is the Hokies' 11th shutout of the season and their eighth run-rule victory.
How It Happened: Virginia Tech 9, Liberty 0
The Hokies made a statement in the top of the first with three solo home runs. Cori McMillan put Tech up 1-0 with just one pitch from the leadoff spot and Jayden Jones followed it up with her second home run of the season.
Bre Peck joined the home run party as well as her solo shot to center put the Hokies up 3-0 after the top of the first.
Tech added two more runs in the top of the third. After back-to-back errors by the Flames, Michelle Chatfield ripped a ground-rule double to left field to score Jayden Jones. Jordan Lynch followed it up with a grounder to second base to score Zoe Yaeger.
The Hokies exploded for four runs in the top of the fifth to take a commanding 9-0 lead. Peck singled through the left side to bring in a run and Lynch delivered a crucial two-RBI double in the bottom of the fifth to extend the lead. A sacrifice fly from Rachel Castine secured the 9-0 advantage.
Lemley ended the game with a strikeout as she secured her third no-hitter of the season.
