GREENSBORO, N.C.- The Hokies capped off the first two days of the ACC Championships with top-three finishes from Carles Coll Marti and the 200 free relay squad, as well as ten new top-ten program times.
Carles Coll Marti won the second 200 IM ACC Championship of his career with his time of 1:40.95 on Wednesday night. He has placed second or better in the 200 IM in all five seasons as a Hokie.
Tuesday:
The 200 medley relay squad consisting of Emma Atkinson, Emily Santos, Athena Meneses Kovacs and Anna Summers posted a time of 1:37.51, moving them into third-best in program history.
Carmen Weiler Sastre, Atkinson, Emily Claesson and Chiara Klein continued the success with a program fifth-best 800 free, recording a 7:02.28.
On the men’s side, Luis Dominguez, Mario Molla Yanes, Jakub Poliacik and Daniil Pancerevas swam the 800 free relay in, 6:15.55, good for a program best-eighth time.
Wednesday:
Coll Marti won the second 200 IM ACC Championship title of his career, swimming a 1:40.95. Previously winning gold in 2022, Coll Marti took second place in 2021, 2023 and 2024 in the 200 IM, making the podium all five years of his collegiate career.
The 200 free relay team of Youssef Ramadan, Brendan Whitfield, Mario Molla Yanes and Will Hayon earned bronze, swimming a 1:15.53. The time moved them up to the third-best in program history.
Brendan Whitfield placed fourth in the 50 free finals as he swam an 18.92 following his third-place prelims finish. His 18.89 in prelims moved him up to the second-fastest time in program history.
Carmen Weiler Sastre, Emily Claesson, Anna Summers and Fanni Gyurinovics placed seventh in the 200 free relay. The squad recorded a 1:28.18 to qualify for NCAA Championships and move into the fifth-best all-time spot in program history.
Molla Yanes placed 11th overall in the 50 free, swimming 19.24. That time was good for the third-fastest in the program. In Hayon’s 50 free prelim swim, he recorded a new eighth-best program time.
Landon Gentry also made 200 IM finals, swimming an NCAA B-cut time of 1:44.70 to swim in the Bonus Finals. It also moved him up a spot to eighth in the program’s top ten times.
In the 500 free prelims, Luis Dominguez (4:18.32) took 17th, Nico Garcia Saiz (4:20.15) took 20th and Lee Naber (4:20.76) took 23rd, qualifying the trio for the Bonus Final. Naber’s prelim time moved him into the ten-spot in the program top-ten times.
Kate Anderson swam a 500 free time trial, recording a 4:45.36 and earning the No. 7 spot on the Hokie's all-time program records list.
