Nine Hokies earn a spot on the 2024 All-ACC Team

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Nine members of the Virginia Tech softball team have been named to the All-ACC Team, as three land on the first team, four on the second team, and two on the third team, the conference announced Wednesday.
 
Emma Ritter, Addy Greene and Cori McMillan each earned a spot on the first team, while Emma Mazzarone, Emma Lemley, Bre Peck and Cameron Fagan were second team selections. Michelle Chatfield and Maija Louko were selected for the third team. Mazzarone and Chatfield were also placed on the 2024 ACC All-Freshman team.
 
Leading the team with a .423 overall batting average, Ritter leads the ACC with 74 hits this season. She posted 37 hits in 23 ACC games played, including five doubles, a triple, and seven home runs. The Hokies' leadoff batter also concluded league play with a .537 OBP and recorded eight stolen bases.
 
Greene earns All-ACC honors for the first time in her career after registering a .420 batting average during conference play. Through 24 conference games she recorded 29 hits, including four doubles, two triples, and seven homers. She currently ranks second in the league with a .821 overall slugging percentage and third with a season total of 34 walks. She also leads the squad with a .527 OBP.
 
In her first year in the league, junior Cori McMillan, made a grand entrance leading the ACC with 20 home runs, 10 of those being in conference play. Her 20 homers has put her at the top spot for the program's individual single season home run record. On April 23rd, McMillan broke the team's single season home run record by launching Tech's 101st ball out of the park. She leads the team in conference play with a .899 slugging percentage and 39 RBI. She also tacked on 12 stolen bases during league play going a perfect 12-for-12. Overall, she is second in the league with a .900 slugging percentage and third with 60 RBI.
 
Senior Cameron Fagan has earned All-ACC honors in each of her four years in a Hokie uniform. She has helped the squad during league play by producing 24 RBI, and five home runs. She has also been stellar on defense recording a .986 fielding percentage at second base. Overall this season, Fagan has posted a .378 batting average and 10 homers.
 
Peck earns ACC honors for the third straight year. During conference play, the junior recorded 30 RBI, five doubles, and seven home runs. Overall, she is second on the team with 51 RBI this season and has 13 home runs.
 
Right hand pitcher Emma Lemley also earned All-ACC for the third time in her career. The junior is third in the ACC with 149 strikeouts on the season. She is also in the top 10 with a 2.06 ERA through 115.2 innings pitched. During conference play, she has made 12 appearances in the circle and has kept batters to a .200 average while giving up only six home runs.
Freshman lefty Emma Mazzarone earns postseason honors after posting a 1.70 ERA during league play, the second best mark in the ACC. She also held batters to a .188 average, also second in the league. In 24 appearances in the circle, Mazzarone has given up only three home runs and has pitched three combined shutouts on the season.
 
Chatfield has had an excellent freshman campaign going yard 19 times this season. Her 19 homers has her tied for the number two spot in the ACC. On March 29th, Chatfield broke the program's freshman home run record with her 15th homer of the year. She is also in the top 10 with an overall slugging percentage of .746 and 34 walks. During conference play she has posted 10 home runs and 24 RBI.
 
Louko earns All-ACC honors for the first time in her career. The DP is fourth on the team with a .382 batting average during conference play. In her 20 ACC games she has contributed 13 hits, including three home runs and nine walks.
