BLACKSBURG, VA – Virginia Tech outfielder Cori McMillan and first baseman Michelle Chatfield were recently named All-Americans by Softball America on Tuesday morning. McMillan was selected for the second team, while Chatfield was honored as part of the Freshman All-American team.
McMillan led the Hokies with 21 homers this season, setting a new single-season home run record for the program. She concluded her junior year with a .379 batting average and 58 hits. Additionally, she topped the team with 64 RBIs and a .869 slugging percentage.
Chatfield made a significant impact in her freshman year launching 19 home runs. In her debut season with the Hokies, she started all 55 games, primarily at first base. Chatfield finished the year with 42 hits, 37 RBIs, and a .693 slugging percentage. She also ranked second on the team with 31 walks.
