BLACKSBURG - The Hokies picked up a vital ACC victory with a huge 4-3 win over the Boston College Eagles on Friday afternoon.
Tech started hot as Semra Aksu and Erika Cheng erased a 4-2 deficit, to win their match 6-4 on Court 2. Katie Andreini and Dariya Radulova battled for a gritty 6-4 win on Court 1 to secure the doubles point for the Hokies.
Freshman Laima Frosch started the Hokies off in the best way possible, as she swept Nada Dimovska on Court 6, 6-0, 6-3. Her win was followed up by another sweep from Özlem Uslu on Court 2. Uslu took down Natalie Eordekian 6-3, 6-3.
Aksu grabbed the clinching point for the Hokies, as she swept Muskan Mahajan 6-3, 6-4. She battled back from down in the second set to secure her match win and the team's win for Tech on Court 3.
Andreini fell in a battle with no. 106 Marice Aguiar on Court 1. After a strong 6-1 first-set win for Andreini, she dropped the following two sets 6-1, 6-1.
Radulova dropped a tight contest with Boston College's Stephanie Sanchez on Court 5. Radulova took the first set 6-4 before Sanchez responded with a 6-2 second-set win. This took the match to a ten-point tiebreak where Radulova fell 10-8 after a tight battle.
