BLACKSBURG – Wide receiver Da’Quan Felton has continued to uphold his role as a dynamic playmaker for the Hokies. A graduate student this season, Felton’s unmistakable presence as a big play threat continues to serve as a key asset in the Tech offense on gameday. Felton and the Hokies will take Worsham Field at Lane Stadium this Saturday for a contest against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets at noon ET on Oct. 26.

Felton took the field as a Hokie for the first time in 2023 after transferring from Norfolk State the year prior. Over 13 games at wide receiver, the then-senior posted team highs in receptions (38), receiving yards (667), and touchdown receptions (8) while also leading the team in yards per game (51.3). Additionally, Felton matched his career high in yards per catch with 17.6, which also led the team. The wide receiver’s dominance was exemplified in a series of key matchups in 2023, specifically his 133-yard and two-touchdown performance against Virginia in the Commonwealth Clash and his 101-yard performance against Boston College.

The Portsmouth, Virginia native has continued to serve as a vital threat in offensive coordinator Tyler Bowen’s scheme this season. Through seven games, Felton has posted 17 catches for 181 yards alongside two touchdowns, one of which being a 55-yard strike in the 31-7 win against Stanford. In the contest against the Cardinal, Felton had four receptions for 84 yards, both statistics leading Tech receivers. His 21.0 yards per catch led offensive Hokies in the win.

There are a series of elements that make Felton’s game so exciting to watch, perhaps none more riveting than his ability to make big plays for the Hokies on offense. Through competition this fall, Felton has achieved an 89.8 receiver rating on passes of 10 to 19 yards and a 90.5 receiving grade when catching passes in the intermediate center of the field. Of the 14 wide receivers listed on the Hokies’ football roster, Felton leads in both size and stature at 6-foot-5, 216 pounds. For his physical qualities, the wide receiver was recognized on Bruce Feldman’s Freaks List before the season kicked off in Nashville.

The fifth-year wide receiver has the chance to achieve personal accolades against the Yellow Jackets this Saturday. Coming into the contest, Felton sits at 848 receiving yards over two seasons as a Hokie and 1,911 yards as a collegiate receiver. If the Portsmouth, Virginia native can post 89 yards against the Georgia Tech defense, he will eclipse 2,000 career receiving yards after recording 1,063 at Norfolk State prior to moving to Blacksburg.

Felton and the Hokies will meet a Georgia Tech (5-3, 3-2 ACC) team that lost its most recent contest to Notre Dame 31-13. While the matchup is sold out, fans who are still looking for tickets can visit SeatGeek, the official fan-to-fan ticket marketplace for Virginia Tech Athletics.
