Lincoln, Plant earn First Team All-America honors

Day Three Results

EUGENE, Ore. - The Virginia Tech men's track and field team concluded competition at the 2024 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Friday, June 7 at Hayward Field.  
 
Judson Lincoln IV secured First Team All-America honors finishing fifth in the 400m finals with a time of 45.31. Lincoln advanced to the finals by clocking 45.42 in the semifinals, seventh fastest time. 
 
Nick Plant finished eighth in the 800m finals recording a time of 1:47.00.  Plant advance from the semifinals on time crossing the finish line at 1:46.40. 

Both Plant and Lincoln obtained First Team All-Americans honors at both the indoor and outdoor championships. Plant finished fourth in the 800m indoors (1:47.75), Lincoln place third in the 400m (45.57). 
 
In the men's high jump, Brandon Burke earned second team All-America honors finishing 11th with a clearance of 6' 11.5" (2.12m). EJ Bell was awarded honorable mention for his 20th place finish at the height of 6' 11.5" (2.12m), cleared on his third attempt.  
 
Burke and Bell advanced to the finals tied for seventh after the East First Rounds with a height of 7' 1.5" (2.17m).  
 
Freshman Chidozie Kalu ends the season obtaining second team All-America honors in the triple jump. Kalu finished 16th with a first-round mark of 51' 1" (15.57m).  
 
Kalu qualified for the meet finished ninth at the East Regional jumping 51' 9.75" (15.69m). He started his rookie year as the ACC indoor triple jump bronze medalist.  

The men's team finished the outdoor championships scoring 5.2 points (47th). The Gators of Florida won the men's competition scoring 41 points, followed by Auburn in second (40) and Southern California in third (33).
