Lemley dominant for No. 15/16 Virginia Tech in shutout win over Virginia

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. --Junior Emma Lemley was dealing on Tuesday, throwing a two-hit shutout to lead the No. 15/16 Virginia Tech Hokies over the Virginia Cavaliers 6-0.

The win gives the Hokies a half a point in the Commonwealth Clash, presented by Smithfield. The score for the Commonwealth Clash currently is 9 - 6.5 Virginia. For more information, visit hokiesports.com/clash.

Lemley (9-4) went the distance for Virginia Tech (32-9-1), giving up two hits, walking two and striking out eight.

Offensively, the Hokies were led by junior Bre Peck, who went 3-for-4 on the day with a home run and an RBI. Senior Addy Greene compiled a noteworthy performance as well, going 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI. Junior Cori McMillan also contributed for Virginia Tech, putting together one hit in four trips to the plate while adding a home run and an RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Hokies took the lead for good in the second, scoring for the first time in the inning. Virginia Tech's offense started clicking and put up four runs, including a two-run double off the bat of Greene.

The Hokies also added runs in the third inning when they scored four times.
