The Atlantic Coast Conference announced the 2023-24 All-ACC Women's Basketball Academic Team Thursday afternoon which featured seven Hokies: Georgia Amoore, Carys Baker, Matilda Ekh, Cayla King, Elizabeth Kitley, Olivia Summiel and Carleigh Wenzel.
Amoore started 32 games this season averaging 18.8 ppg. and 6.8 assists. The PG recorded nine double-doubles and set the single-game record for dimes with 16 against HCU in November. Amoore scored 20+ in 16 different games and set a program record with 39 points at UVA. It was the first time a Hokie had scored that many in an ACC contest or a contest on the road. She also tied Aisha Sheppard by hitting eight 3-pointers in that game. For the season Amoore made 85 3-point baskets the fourth-highest total in a single season in program history. She produced just the fifth season in history with 600 total points scored and the third season with 200+ assists.
Baker appeared in every game off the bench, playing 11.7 minutes per game. She averaged 3.4 points per game, shooting 38% from beyond the 3-point line. She scored in double figures twice, with a season-best 18-point performance against LIU where she went 4-6 from beyond the arc.
Ekh started all 33 games averaging 10.4 points per game and shooting 43% from the field. She scored in double figures 21 times and topped 20 points on two occasions, both in Tech wins at Rutgers (25) and vs. Marshall in the NCAA tournament (21). She led Tech's guards at 3-point efficiency, shooting 40% from beyond the arc and connecting on 78 triples for the season.
Summiel started 17 times for the Hokies at forward averaging 3.7 points and 7.1 rebounds on the season. She scored in double figures five times including an 18-point effort at Rutgers that featured a perfect 4-for-4 day from beyond the arc. Summiel recorded three double-doubles on the season and had an 18-rebound game against Notre Dame in the ACC tournament, a career high.
King started all 33 games at shooting guard, averaging 7.1 points and 3.1 rebounds. She shot 31% for the season and made 68 3-point field goals. King scored in double figures eight times, scoring a season-best 21 points against Long Island with seven 3's. She recorded a career-high nine assists in the win over Clemson in a game that the Hokies were without the services of PG Georgia Amoore.
Kitley started 29 games, averaging better than 22 points and 11 rebounds, the only athlete in the nation to do so. Kitley posted 18 games on 20+ points, eight 30-point games and had 19 double-doubles on the season. Her field goal with 0.9 seconds to defeat third-ranked NC State at Cassell Coliseum will stand as one of the more memorable moments from the season.
Wenzel Played in all 33 games, starting once in the win over Clemson. She averaged 4.2 points per game, 2.3 rebounds and 1.5 assists. Wenzel scored a season-best 12 points in the NCAA Tournament vs. Marshall. In that game she also recorded six rebounds, seven assists and two blocks, becoming just the third woman in program history to record 12-6-7-2 in the same contest.
