NEW ORLEANS – The Virginia Tech men's track and field program has been ranked 18th in the second installment of rankings by the U.S. Track and Field & Cross Country Coaches Association.
Junior Conner McClure ranks second in the nation in men's pole clearing an ACC All-Time record height of 5.75m (18'10.25") at the Texas Relays. Teammate Maddox Hamm ranks fifth in the event clearing a personal-best height of 5.55m (18'2.5"). McClure sits first in the Southeast Region with Hamm in third, and Harrison Rice in fourth at 5.30m (17'4.50").
The men's 4x400m relay team of Kennedy Harrison, KJ Tillmon, Ali Diaby, and Judson Lincoln IV broke the program record for a second time this season clocking 3:01.62 at the Florida Relays, ranked fourth in the NCAA. In the 4x100m relay, the team clocked a season-best time of 39.31 ranked 10th in the nation. After two weeks of competition, Tech leads the conference in both the 4x400m and 4x100m relay.
Lincoln ranks 23rd in the the 200m with a personal-best time of 20.60 set at the Weems Baskin Relays.
Freshman Vlad Puchko recorded the second-best mark in program history competing in discus at the Ole Miss Classic. Puchko finished first in the Hokies' season opener throwing 58.17m (190' 10"), ranked 19th in the NCAA.
Tech men are ranked ninth in the USTFCCCA Southeast Region.
