INDIANAPOLIS – From March 27-30, Virginia Tech competed in the 2024 NCAA men's swimming and diving championships. The Hokies placed ninth with 172 points, which tied the highest finish in program history from a year ago. The men are leaving Indianapolis breaking six school records and with multiple All-America honors.

"The Men's NCAA 2024 Championship has come to an end. We finished in ninth place, five points from eighth. We had five school records in relays and one school record for Youssef in the 50 backstroke. We scored 40 points more than we did last year in a very competitive field so overall I am very happy. The theme for us internally is to be consistent and create sustainable success. Within the last four years, we were 11th in the COVID year with not a lot of teams, 11th with all the teams, ninth last year and ninth this year. So, we are on a very good trajectory. The kids fought until the end and now we got to regroup and next year place higher. Thank you for all your support and go Hokies!"

The Hokies dominated school records in the relay events. They broke four school relay records during the championships and scored points in every relay.
In the first event of the championships, the 200 medley relay, Tech came in 10th place overall. Youssef Ramadan, Carles Coll Marti, Will Hayon and Brendan Whitfield broke the school record with a time of 1:22.73 and earned Honorable All-America for the performance. During the relay, Ramadan also broke the school record for the 50 back with a time of 20.61. The Hokies concluded Wednesday with the 800 free relay. Luis Dominguez, Whitfield, Coll Marti and Mario Molla Yanes broke the school record with a time of 6:09.34. The relay finished 10th overall and received Honorable Mention All-America.
During the Thursday finals, Ramadan, Whitfield, Dominguez and Molla Yanes earned All-America recognition for the 200 freestyle relay. The relay team finished seventh overall with a time of 1:15.32 and broke the 200 freestyle relay school record.
Ramadan, Coll Marti, Molla Yanes and Whitfield earned another All-America accolade for the 400 medley relay during the Friday finals. They finished seventh overall with a 3:02.34 setting a new school record for the event.
In the last event of the championship, the 400 free relay, Ramadan, Whitfield, Dominguez and Coll Marti finished sixth. This relay broke the sixth school record of the championship and earned the swimmers another All American award. They swam a time of 2:45.97.
Ramadan had a stellar championship earning a place in the final of every event he swam in. Ramadan won the B-Final for the 50 free and finished ninth overall with a time of 18.74. He earned Honorable Mention All-America distinction for the swim. He then made the A-Final for the 100 fly. Ramadan finished fourth overall with a time of 43.95 and earned All-America honors. On Saturday, he made the B-Final for the 100 free. Ramadan tied for first in the B-Final. Overall, he finished ninth with a time of 41.27 – earning Honorable Mention All-America.
In the 100 and 200 breaststroke, Coll Marti made the A-Final for both events. In the 100 breaststroke, Coll Marti finished fifth overall with a time of 51.06, earning All-America accolades. Coll Marti ended the meet on a high note placing third in the 200 breaststroke. He swam a time of 1:49.99 to earn another All-America distinction.
AJ Pouch showed his strength in the breaststroke events. Pouch made the B-Final for the 100 breaststroke event and finished with a personal best time of 51.78 to place 15th. He earned Honorable Mention All-America for his swim. Pouch then made the B-Final in the 200 breaststroke. He finished 11th with a time of 1:52.01 to rack up another Honorable Mention All-America award.
Multiple Hokies swam personal best times throughout the championships. In the 100 freestyle, Hayon, Molla Yanes and Dominguez all swam a personal best time. Hayon swam a 42.53 to finish in 44th, Molla Yanes swam a 42.39 to finish 40th and Dominguez swam a 42.31 to finish 37th. In the 100 fly, Molla Yanes swam a personal best time of 45.06 and finished 18th. Dominguez swam a personal best in the 200 free to finish 18th with a time of 1:32.25. Then in the 50 free, Hayon and Molla Yanes each swam their personal best. Hayon finished 44th with a time of 19.54 and Molla Yanes finished 29th with a time of 19.29.
