GAME 1 | No. 12 Virginia Tech 8, Longwood 4

FARMVILLE, Va. --Junior Emma Lemley was mowing people down on Tuesday, fanning 10 Longwood hitters over four innings of work to help lead the No. 16/12 Virginia Tech Hokies past the Lancers 8-4.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Hokies were trailing 3-0 in the third inning when they first put runs on the board. Virginia Tech's offense started clicking and put up five runs, including a three-run home run off the bat of junior Bre Peck.

The Hokies then lost some of their lead, expanding on their advantage in the fourth inning after the Lancers cut it to 5-4. Virginia Tech scored once on an RBI single off the bat of sophomore Kylie Aldridge, which brought the score to 6-4 in favor of the Hokies.

Virginia Tech kept Longwood scoreless before building their lead to 8-4 in the seventh inning. The Hokies got back-to-back run-scoring doubles from junior Cori McMillan and freshman Michelle Chatfield to pick up a couple of runs.
