BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech Sports Properties, the multimedia rights holder for Virginia Tech Athletics, announced on Wednesday morning that coverage of Virginia Tech softball will continue for a second season on the Virginia Tech Sports Network from LEARFIELD.

This spring, a team of Broadcast Associates will team up to cover the softball program and give exclusive coverage to fans in unique ways.

Nick Brown, Nels Williams, Kendal Williams, Giovanni Heater, Carter Hill, Kyle Marchak, Simone Cotterell, Abby Neilson and Braden Schenck, all undergraduate students who are a part of the Sports Media and Analytics program in Virginia Tech's School of Communication, will work throughout the year to deliver play-by-play coverage and digital content for fans.

"We are thrilled to yet again bring Virginia Tech Softball games to Tech fans on the Virginia Tech Sports Network," said Zach Mackey, Director of Broadcasting and Voice of Tech men's basketball. "Our Broadcast Associates continue to put out a top-notch broadcast that matches one of the top softball programs in the ACC and the country."

All 21 Virginia Tech softball home games will be broadcast live on the HokieSports mobile app and HokieSports.com. It will include a 20-minute pregame show, including an interview with coach Pete D'Amour, as well as postgame coverage.

Each week on Virginia Tech softball's social media pages, the broadcast associates will conduct interviews with athletes and coaches.

The home opener will be broadcast when Virginia Tech hosts Elon at 4 p.m. ET, with pregame coverage beginning at 3:40 p.m. Giovanni Heater and Carter Hill will be live on the call.

"We're delighted again this spring that students in our Sports Media & Analytics (SMA) program will have these professional opportunities with Virginia Tech's softball program," said Bill Roth, Professor of Practice in the Virginia Tech School of Communication and Voice of Tech football. "We're appreciative of this great collaboration between LEARFIELD and Virginia Tech Athletics. It's a "Win-Win" for Tecn fans, our SMA students, and the Hokies' softball program."
