BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech football's Peter Moore will wear the No. 25 jersey during the White Effect game versus Pitt.
Saturday's primetime matchup will be Moore's second time wearing the iconic number. The Davidsonville, Maryland native was first selected to wear No. 25 in 2022 versus Wofford. Named special teams captain for the second consecutive season, Moore has been very productive to start the year and was named Co-Specialist of the Week following his performance against Purdue.
"It's a great feeling to wear No. 25 this weekend against Pitt," Moore said. "It's an honor to represent Coach Beamer and all the great players that come before me".
The redshirt junior has been a consistent performer each week, averaging 44.27 yards per punt. On 22 attempts, Moore has 11 punts of 50+ yards and downed ten punts inside the twenty-yard line. His longest punt of the season came against Rutgers going for a booming 62 yards.
Tech retired Frank Beamer's No. 25 jersey in 2002, and since the start of the 2016 season, the Hokies have been paying homage to Tech's legacy of excellence on special teams by selecting a different special teams athlete each week to wear the honorary Beamer 25 jersey.
