Two Hokies earn ACC Player of the Week honors

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Virginia Tech linebacker Keli Lawson and punter Peter Moore have earned ACC Player of the Week honors for their efforts in Week 2 of the season, the conference announced Monday.

Lawson (6-4, 223) is the league's Linebacker of the Week, after recording a career-high 14 tackles against Purdue (7 solo), including a half sack. The redshirt sophomore from Stephens City, Virginia also tallied a pass breakup against the Boilermakers.

Moore (6-1, 200) is the conference Co-Specialist of the Week. A redshirt junior from Davidsonville, Maryland, Moore registered an average of 46 yards per punt in the game against Purdue with a long of 55 yards to help the Hokies flip the field. He booted four punts of 50-plus yards and had a total of three downed inside the 20-yard line.

Tech will head to Rutgers this Saturday and play at 3:30 p.m. ET on Big Ten Network.
