BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech football's Peter Moore will wear the No. 25 jersey on Wednesday versus Tulane. The Military Bowl will be Moore's third time being selected to carry on Frank Beamer's iconic legacy.

A native of Davidsonville, Maryland the redshirt junior is just the fifth student-athlete to be a three-time recipient.

The special teams captain wore No. 25 earlier this season against Pitt. In the 38-21 victory at Lane Stadium, Moore attempted five punts for 202 yards, averaging 40.4 yards per punt.

"It's an honor to wear 25 in the bowl game, the Military Bowl, especially in my hometown," Moore said. "And to get to wear it twice in one year is really special."

Moore has attempted 58 punts throughout the regular season for 2,508 yards. Averaging 43.2 per punt, he has booted 18 punts for over 50 yards and downed 16 punts inside the 20 yard line.

Tech retired Frank Beamer's No. 25 jersey in 2002, and since the start of the 2016 season, the Hokies have been paying homage to Tech's legacy of excellence on special teams by selecting a different special teams athlete each week to wear the honorary Beamer 25 jersey. For more information on who has worn it in the past.
