On how the Bowl Week has gone for the program:

"It's been awesome. I tell you the guys have really approached things the right way. They've had a good balance of fun, but doing what they need to from a preparation standpoint. The military bowl has been awesome to us. A lot of good events. A bunch of our guys have never been to Washington D.C. So, to see the Lincoln Memorial, the Martin Luther King Junior Memorial, to go to the Capitol, it's just been awesome. We had a really nice Christmas Eve dinner, and there must have been 350 people in there, including Santa Claus. So it's been good."

Head Coach Brent Pry

On the preparation thus far for the military bowl:
"It's been good, very pleased with the guys right now. I was concerned yesterday, we traveled here. Some of them drove themselves, a bunch of us on buses from Blacksburg, a couple of guys flew in. We brought them over here lifted and practiced, and they did a tremendous job. And now we gave them some free time last night. They were out for a while and everybody made curfew on time. Got up for breakfast on time and came out here and had a really good Tuesday practice. Right now, I think it's a good mix of getting to experience DC a little bit and practicing. Great facility, perfect for what we needed right now."

Quarterback Kyron Drones

On the impact of Ali Jennings, Da'Quan Felton, Jaylin Lane and Stephen Gosnell returning next year:

"It's just gonna make us better. Just getting the reps that we've already been getting and building on what we've been doing. We don't have to rebuild as a whole offense like we did when we first got here last year. We gotta build on what we've been doing and it's just gonna be better for us."

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 22 @ 7:00 P.M.

Following its first practice after arriving in Washington D.C., student-athletes spoke with the media about the final phases of preparation for the Military Bowl.

Running back Bhayshul Tuten

On the factors that impacted his decision to return:
"I kind of just wanted to get my degree in a sense, so that was like a big part of making my decision. Going to the NFL or getting my degree, and then going a year later.  I kind of wanted to get my degree a little bit more, and develop as a player a little bit more. So, I think coming back for an extra year would definitely help both of those goals."

Cornerback Dorian Strong

On the coaching staff's feedback to help further his development:
"The conversations with Derek Jones, Brent Pry and Chris Marve also too, they told me, they feel like I can go to the league, go get drafted, all that good stuff. But they feel like, if I come back, it's definitely some areas in my game to where I can make myself more valuable and just make myself a better corner. And just ultimately help me, just stack seasons, stack seasons back to back instead of just going off one season. You know, stack two and just show that I am who I am, a true lockdown corner."

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 22 @ 5:30 P.M.
