BLACKSBURG — For the first time this season, Carles Coll Marti has been named ACC men's co-swimmer of the week for his performance at Virginia Tech's season opener against George Washington.
Coll Marti had a stellar performance at the dual meet. He competed in three individual events and started the season on a good note by placing first in all three. The Catalonia, Spain native started his meet with the 100 breaststroke with a time of 54.23. Coll Marti followed that performance up with the 200 breaststroke with a time of 1:59.06. He finished his individual events with the 200 IM and clocked a time of 1:49.35.
In addition to his individual events, Coll Marti competed in the 200 medley relay. Alongside Forest Webb, William Hayon and Luis Dominguez, the team placed first with a time of 1:29.57.
The Hokies return to competition Saturday in Columbia, S.C., in a tri-meet with South Carolina and Texas A&M.
