BLACKSBURG – Senior Lindsey Butler led the Hokies to victory at the Virginia Tech Alumni Invitational on Friday, Sept. 15 crossing the finish line first in the women's 6k. Butler clocked in a season-best time of 21:34.4, and helped the women's team score 20 points with five top-10 finishes.
Mary Kate McGranahan followed closely behind Butler in second with a time 21:45.6. Freshman Lila Waters placed fourth in her first collegiate cross country meet clocking in a time of 21:53.7. Ava Hassebrock finished fifth with a time of 21:57.9, followed by Chase Kappeler in eighth (22:12.6.)
The men's team scored 25 points placing three through seven with Viktor Idhammar crossing the finish line first for the Hokies with an 8k time of 24:29.4. Sophomore Declan Rymer placed fourth with a time of 24:44.0, followed by Bryce Reeburgh in fifth (25:01.6), Arnav Tikhe in sixth (25:09.1), and Alec Fleming in seventh (25:10.2).
