FISHING FOR ANOTHER CONFERENCE WIN
Tech enters this weekend's road trip following a tough loss to Michigan State, 5-2, this past weekend. The start looked promising for Tech with Alberto Orso and Scott Sculley cruising to a 6-3 victory followed by Matt Harper and Frank Thompson on court three, 6-3, to put the Hokies ahead 1-0 going into singles. The win marked the first doubles point for Tech since March 17, against Duke. Fishback added to the tally with a straight-set victory but it ultimately wasn't enough. The last time Tech faced an ACC opponent resulted in a 5-2 victory on the road against Boston College.
WOLFPACK
NC State is currently tied for fourth in the ACC standings with Florida State. The team is coming up on a stretch of four games in eight days to close out the regular season. NC State fell to No. 21 Duke, 5-2, on the road in Durham in their last match. The Wolfpack took the doubles point, but Duke won two of the first singles matches to gain some momentum. NC State's lone singles victory came from freshman Martin Borisiouk. The Wolfpack come in at No. 22 in the latest ITA Rankings. The doubles duo of Robin Catry and Luca Staeheli were ranked No. 15, while Joe Wayand and Rafa Izquierdo Luque were ranked No. 24. On the singles side Izquierdo Luque is ranked No. 61 and Staeheli came in at No. 70.
DEMON DEACONS
Wake Forest enters this Sunday's matchup coming off of a close defeat to North Carolina, 4-3. Senior No. 11 Melios Efstahiou continued his stellar 2023 campaign Sunday as the Limassol, Cyprus native notched his second-consecutive top-50 victory with a 6-2, 7-6 (7-4) win in first singles. Efstathiou owns a 16-3 record in dual singles matches this season, including a 5-1 mark over nationally-ranked foes. The Demon Deacons still sit fifth in the ACC and only three matches out of first with four matches remaining.
