BLACKSBURG, Va. -- The No. 21 Virginia Tech Hokies fell 5-4 in game three against the No. 6 Clemson Tigers on Saturday afternoon. Tech finishes the series winning 2-of-3 to take the series.
Freshman Lyndsey Grein (8-4) took the loss in the circle out of the bullpen for Virginia Tech (35-17, 14-10). Sophomore Emma Lemley started the ballgame and went 3.2 innings, surrendering one run on six hits, walking one and striking out five.
Sophomore Rachel Castine led the way offensively for the Hokies, with a home run and two RBI. Senior Kelsey Brown put together a solid performance at the plate as well, going 2-for-4. Junior Addy Greene also helped out with a double and a run scored.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Clemson took the lead in the second inning on a solo home run from Alia Logoleo. Trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the second inning, the Hokies scored three runs in the frame, highlighted by a two-run homer from Castine. A sacrifice fly from Madison Hanson to score Brown plated the Hokies other run.
The Hokies then held the Tigers scoreless before getting back on the board the very next inning. Virginia Tech capitalized on a Clemson error that scored Greene and brought the Hokies lead to 4-1. Clemson battled back, scoring a run in the fifth off an RBI double. The Tigers followed that up with three runs in the sixth with a solo home run and a two-run home run from Reedy Davenport, which proved to be the game-winner.

The Hokies wrap up the regular season at Liberty, traveling to Lynchburg for a 6 p.m. matchup with the Flames on Wednesday.
