No. 21/24 Virginia Tech rallies for 5-4 walk-off victory over No. 6 Clemson

BLACKSBURG, Va. -- The No. 21 Virginia Tech Hokies rallied to score five in the seventh inning and walked it off on junior Cameron Fagan's three-run home run off of junior Valerie Cagle to pick up the 5-4 victory over the No. 6 Clemson Tigers Saturday.

Sophomore Molly Jacobson (7-2) got the win out of the bullpen for Virginia Tech (34-16, 13-9). The right-hander went 0.1 shutout innings without giving up a hit, no walks and striking out one. Emma Lemley got the start for the Hokies, going 6.2 innings and striking out seven, giving up five hits. 

Fagan led the way offensively for the Hokies, with the game-winning home run and three RBI. Sophomore Bre Peck compiled a standout performance as well, going 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBI to help the Hokies come back in the seventh. Junior Addy Greene also chipped in, going 2-for-3 for Virginia Tech with two singles.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Clemson scored all four of their runs on home runs, with a solo shot in the third and fourth innings, followed by a two-run home run from Maddie Moore in the fifth. Trailing 4-0 heading into the seventh, Emma Ritter opened the inning with a single, followed by the home run from Peck to cut into the lead. Two pinch-hit singles from Morgan Overaitis and Madison Hanson put runners on first and second with two outs when Fagan came to the plate. Fagan took the first pitch to left center field to secure the game one win for the Hokies.
