Hammerin' Hokies post 24 runs against Florida State

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Senior David Bryant put together an outstanding showing at the plate Friday, hitting for the cycle to help propel the Virginia Tech Hokies over the Florida State Seminoles 24-9.

Senior Anthony Arguelles (1-1) started on the mound and picked up the win for Virginia Tech (22-13, 9-9). The right-hander went 6.1 innings, giving up five runs, all of them earned, on six hits, allowing two walks and striking out seven. Junior Peter Sakellaris also made an impact on the mound for the Hokies, throwing one shutout inning while allowing no hits.

Bryant completed his cycle in six at-bats, driving in six runs along the way. Freshman Brody Donay supplemented Bryant's historic day by going 4-for-6 with two home runs and seven RBI. Bryant also chipped in for the Hokies, going 4-for-6 for Virginia Tech with a double, a triple, a home run and six RBI.

Trailing 5-0, the Hokies first put runs on the board in the fourth inning. Virginia Tech's offense started clicking and put up five runs, including a three-run triple off the bat of Bryant.
