Tech struggles against No. 8 Virginia

Charlottesville, Va. – Virginia Tech men's tennis (7-10, 1-6) was swept by No. 8 Virginia (15-4, 7-0) on Wednesday afternoon in Charlottesville, Va.

The Cavaliers took control early, dominating doubles play on court's one and two leading to a pair of wins that earned them the doubles point. Matt Harper and Frank Thompson put forth a strong effort on Court 3 going up 5-4 before the match was called.

The lone bright spot for the Hokies was Alex Ix on Court 6. The hometown kid put together a brilliant first set, winning 6-3, but ultimately fell in the third set in a 10-point tiebreak, 10-6. Jordan Chrysostom and Scott Sculley battled in their respective opening sets but couldn't claim the tiebreak and fell in straight sets.
