The seventh-ranked Virginia Tech women's basketball team is set to play host to No. 13 North Carolina on New Year's Day, with tipoff slated for 4 p.m. Both squads are coming in after losses on Thursday night. Tech fell at Clemson 64-59 and UNC lost to FSU 78-71 at home in Chapel Hill.

•Senior guard Cayla King, one of the nation's top 3-point artists made five triples at Clemson on Thursday night after going scoreless in the two previous games.
•King is fifth all-time at VT in 3's made with 183.
•This season she is 38-89 (42.7%) from deep. She began the season with nine 3's against Mount St. Mary's setting a program record for a single game.
