Tech travels to High Point for final non-conference game of the season

The eighth-ranked Virginia Tech women's basketball will travel to High Point University for a 7 p.m. matchup on Wednesday, Dec. 21 in the final non-conference game of the regular season. HPU, out of the Big South is the fourth team from that league to face the Hokies this season. Tech already owns wins over USC Upstate, Longwood and UNC Asheville.

THE SERIES 
•VT is 3-0 all-time vs. the Panthers with all three meetings coming at Cassell Coliseum. 
•The last matchup came on Dec. 16, 2017 a 86-63 victory for the Hokies. Taylor Emery (16) and Kendyl Brooks (12) were both in double figures in that contest 
 
VT CONNECTIONS IN THE GREENSBORO AREA
•The game is a homecoming for two VT seniors, Elizabeth Kitley and Cayla King who are from the Greensboro area, roughly 20 miles from High Point University. 
•Kitley's uncle, Barry Kitley, is the Senior VP for University Relations at High Point. 
 
KITLEY CLEANS UP THE GLASS
•Kitley recorded 20 rebounds against Notre Dame in the Hokies' last game, the second time in her career that she has accomplished the feat. She shares the program record for rebounds in a single game with 21 (Jan. 17, 2021 vs. Wake Forest). 
•Seventeen of her 20 boards against the Irish came on the defensive end of the floor. 
•She is the only ACC WBB athlete to secure 20+ rebounds this season. 
•The senior center leads the ACC at 12.0 rebounds per game. Through two league games she is averaging 16.0 rebounds.
