Tech set to host Hokie Open on Friday

BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech men's and women's cross country teams set to host their final home meet of the season at the Buford Meredith Cross Country Course in Blacksburg, Va. on Friday, Nov. 4. The Hokie Open will start at 4:00 p.m. with the men's 6k, followed by the women's 4k at 4:45 p.m.

Virginia Tech last compete at the ACC Championships on Oct. 28 in Charlottesville, Va. finishing eighth in both the men's and women's races. Antonio Lopez Segura earned All-ACC honors finishing 11th in the men's 8k with a time of 23:19.0.  In the women's 6k, Lindsey ButlerCheyenne Leatham, and Ava Hassebrock ran a close race with each other finishing within the top 40. Butler (26) clocked in first for the Hokies with a time 20:22.8. Leatham followed closely behind in 36th place with a time of 20:32.2, Hassebrock finished 39th (20:36.6). 

The Hokies will next compete at the Southeast Regional on Nov. 11 in Louisville, Ky. The men's team is currently ranked ninth in the region by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, women's team is ranked 10th.
