HEADLINES FROM LAST WEEK

In its season opener, women's basketball defeated Mount St. Mary's 101-45 on Monday. Senior Cayla King opened the 2022-23 campaign with a record-breaking performance, setting a new program record with nine-made threes in a single game.
 
To finish off the doubleheader, men's basketball defeated Delaware State 95-57. Graduate student Grant Basile made waves in his first game as a Hokie, putting up 30 points and 10 rebounds in the win. Sophomore Sean Pedulla added on 18 points and eight assists, while junior Darius Maddox chipped in as well with 14 points.

In his season debut, senior Justyn Mutts' double-double performance helps men's basketball down Lehigh 78-52 on Thursday. Other notable performers included Pedulla's 20 points and Basile's 11 points and eight rebounds.
 
Elizabeth Kitley leads women's basketball past Bucknell 67-41 on Friday night. Kitley's 22 points and 13 rebounds notched her 35th career double-double. The defense shined, forcing 20 turnovers, turning those into 23 points on the offensive end.
 
Volleyball fell to Virginia 3-0 in Charlottesville on Friday. Senior Cera Powell led the team with 10 kills while graduate student Maddie Slagle had a team-high seven digs.
 
On Sunday, volleyball fell to Wake Forest 3-1 on the road. The Hokies recorded 12 blocks in the loss, led by graduate student Sydney Peterson's match-high eight blocks.

Women's soccer's season came to an end on Sunday, falling 2-0 to West Virginia in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Tech earned the program's 13th all-time berth into the tournament, its fourth within the last five season. The Hokies kept the Mountaineers scoreless in the first half, before allowing two goals in the second.

Men's basketball finishes its opening week undefeated after a 94-77 win over William & Mary on Sunday. Tech was led by guards Hunter Cattoor and Sean Pedulla, both dropping 22 points, a new career-high for Pedulla. The Hokies were shooting lights-out, going 50-percent from three and 100-percent from the charity stripe.
