Hokies take on George Washington and Ohio in home opener

BLACKSBURG – The Hokies are fired up from their intrasquad meet this past weekend and are ready to host George Washington and Ohio on Saturday. 

MEET INFORMATION
Date/Time: October 1, 2022 / 11 a.m.
Location: Christiansburg Aquatic Center
Opponent: George Washington and Ohio

The meet will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the Christiansburg Aquatic Center. The women's team will go up against George Washington and Ohio, while the men's team will just compete against George Washington.

The Hokies have 24 newcomers on the roster this year, and they are ready to start competing for the team. The men's recruits this season ranked 7th in Swimcloud's 2022 men's recruiting rankings and should be looked out for this weekend.

Opponents:

The George Washington men's and women's teams won the Atlantic 10 championship title during the 2021-22 season. In the league's Preseason Poll, GW was projected to win the Atlantic 10 championship again this year. Last season, the Hokies men's team beat the Colonials 190-102, and the women's team won 178-111. 

Ohio has won 11 conference titles and has had 17 All-American athletes. The women's team placed fourth in the MAC championships last season. During the 2022 spring season, the Bobcats were named to the CSCAA Scholar All-America Team.
