Eleven Hokies named to the Scholar All-America Team

RICHMOND, Va. – After a solid season in and out of the pool, 11 Hokies were named to the Scholar All-America team by the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America.

Karisa Franz, Reka Gyorgy, Morgan Miller, Teagan Moravek, Izzi Mroz, Sarah Shackelford, Will Koeppen, Cobi Lopez Miro, Keith Myburgh, Sam Tornqvist and Forest Webb earn this honor after posting exemplary marks in the classroom and representing Virginia Tech nationally by their accomplishments in the pool.

The CSCAA named 1,206 swimmers and divers to its Scholar All-American Team for the 2021-22 season. The award recognizes students who achieved a grade point average of 3.50 or higher and were invited to compete at their respective national championship.

Earlier this year, eight Hokies were named to the All-ACC Academic Team, including Franz, Moravek, Shackelford and Webb.

This past season, the men's program tied their highest-ever finish at the NCAA Championship, 11th overall, while scoring the most points in program history, 143. The women's team set three school records at the ACC Championship and Virginia Tech as a whole returned to Blacksburg with 14 medals.
